Dr.Gero
Hatred is not somethings good to keep inside of
you. What if you kept it bottled up inside of you for
twenty years? Then you might turn out like Dr. Gero.
A brilliant scientist employed by the Red Ribbon Army,
Gero's specialty is robotics and artifical intelligence.
Unfortunately, Gero is a little bit too brilliant. Many
of his creations are so-called "failures" only because
they possess the ability to choose right and wrong,
thus aware of their own existence. Although results
1-7 are never seen, Android 8 resembles Frankenstein's
monster, and instead of attacking Goku he befriends him
and helps him conquer Muscle Tower. And for many years,
this is the last we see of Artifical Humans. In fact, Dr. Gero's
role in the Red Ribbon Army is entirely unknown, until
DragonBall Zwhen Trunks shows up and explains
about the mad doctor. All these years Dr. Gero was held
up in his secret lab, creating machine after machine so
that he could build something powerful enough to take
his vengeance on Goku for obliterating the Red Ribbon
Army. Gero dealt with mostly two types of Artifical Humans,
Mechanical Type and Biotechnological Type. Mechanical
Types were entirely robots that were constructed of
machine parts, like Numbers 16, 19 and 20. Biotechnological
Types are part man and part machine like Numbers 8, 17, 18
and in Call's case, entirely biologcial. Although fit for fighting,
Android 19's purpose was to transplant Gero's brain into
Android 20, so that he could prolong his existence beyond
human years.
Gero's genius knew no bounds. He created tiny bug-
like machines that took blood samples from strong heroes
and villians while they were battling on Earth. It was with
these samples that he created the life form known as Cell.
After preliminary work was completed, Gero sealed Cell
in a secret underground section of his lab, and let his
computer finish the rest of the work on the creature,
a process that takes 24 years. Unfortunately, in a twist not
unlike a Shakespearean tragedy, it is the passion of
Dr. Gero's life that finally extinguishes his spark when
he is beheaded and crushed by Artifical Human (Android) 17.
